Susana Escalante, MA, ABD,
draws upon 20 years of experience as a Senior Human Resources Manager with emphasis in strategic diversity initiatives, diversity education, workplace harassment, and employee relations. She has worked as Senior HR Manager for the City of Boulder, Hewlett-Packard, StorageTek, and Network Centric Systems with a focus on inclusion management. She is currently the Corporate Diversity Manager for Seagate. Susana has extensive experience helping organizations design and implement their inclusion/diversity programs and strategies. She currently works with seven employee Diversity Action Councils that she helped create and manage and two executive level Diversity Councils. She has over 10 years experience working with teams, ensuring high team performance.
In her role at Seagate, Susana has helped drive the US-wide diversity/inclusion strategy, create and oversee US diversity councils, promote diversity education,
assess diversity employee index results, respond to employee relations issues, support diversity recruitment and retention, partner with key community
organizations, establish program metrics/accountability, and more.
At StorageTek, Susana's responsibilities included overseeing the company's worldwide Global Diversity Strategy and implementation including:
StorageTek received the INROADS Trailblazer Award and Seagate was named one of the top 50 companies for Diversity in the US (2001 and 2002), DiversityInc publication.
Prior to these roles, Susana worked as Regional Diversity Coordinator at Hewlett-Packard in Fort Collins, Colorado. She also worked for the City of Boulder, Colorado, for more than ten years as Affirmative Action and Diversity Officer. In addition to duties that were similar to those described above, she was responsible for assisting with staffing and employee relations including mediation and conflict resolution and supported Police and Fire selection and promotional processes.

Susana's clients have included: AVAYA, AT&T; IBM, Lucent; Hughes Corporation, INTRADO; USDA-Forest Service; US Department of Commerce; Bureau of Land Management; National Park Service; NIST; and EPA; as well as numerous cities, counties, and municipalities; e.g., City of Denver (including the City of Denver Fire Department and Denver Water Department), Boulder, Fort Collins, Longmont, Montrose, and Thornton, Colorado; Federal agencies such as the Bureau of Reclamation and United States Environmental Protection Agency; Children's Hospital; Kindred Atlanta Hospital; and more.
Susana is an engaging trainer and her programs consistently receive high ratings. She has excellent understanding of government, nonprofit, and corporate cultures.
Susana has won the following awards: 1997 recipient of the Boulder County award for her work in diversity and business, the Adelante Mujer State Award (1998) for community involvement and the 1999 Award presented by Career Communications (Black and Hispanic Engineer Publication) for her work in Diversity/Affirmative Action.
