Jan Day Gravel - Zoe Training and Consulting

Jan Day GravelJan Day Gravel is the President and Chief Learning Officer of the Janus Development Group, a firm whose mission is to develop leadership in people, groups, and organizations to achieve their vision. Jan has more than 15 years of experience in helping people enhance and develop their capacity to be better leaders both personally and professionally. Her work in Emergenetics®, how one is born genetically wired with a tendency to think and behave in certain ways, has enabled thousands of individuals to "lead with their brain in mind" and increase not only their capacities but those of their team to get the results they desire.

Jan is also trained in utilization and delivery of strategic visioning products by The Grove and Joel Barker's Implications Wheel. These products and techniques are designed to help teams achieve a new outlook on problems, vision and goal setting sessions, and brainstorming. The use of visual, non-linear, interactive techniques is extremely effective in helping groups look at challenges in a whole new fashion.

Beginning her career as a teacher, Jan is the only person in the United States to have served as the Executive Director for six independent community leadership programs. Her work in community coalitions has dealt with education, environment, government, and the judiciary. She facilitated the first Environmental Justice panels initiated by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.

Certified in principle-centered negotiation, she received a Masters of Arts in Conflict Resolution from Antioch University in Ohio. Her thesis research is based upon the Emergenetics® model and its application to the creation of coalitions on public policy issues.

Jan served as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the U.S. National Senior Sports Organization, and was vice-chair of the local organizing committee which hosted the 1993 USNSO competition that attracted over 7,000 competitors. In 1997, the Baton Rouge Business Report recognized her as one of the "Top 25 Women for 1997."

Other consulting services include strategic planning, graphic facilitation, and organizational consulting for community coalition development. Representative clients are the FBI, US Department of Justice, USAID, International City/County Management Association, USDA, the Congressional Club, City of Englewood, Colorado, the LA Workforce Commission, Council for a Better Louisiana, Conoco, Alliance for Judicial Excellence, and the National League of Cities. Jan also serves as a guide on leadership pilgrimages to Egypt and New Mexico.
