Eleanor Hubbard - Zoe Training and Consulting

Eleanor HubbardEleanor Hubbard, PhD, is a diversity trainer, consultant, and facilitator with more than 40 years of experience. She is the founder and president of DiversityWorks, a training and consulting firm specializing in workplace diversity since 1995. Eleanor has helped for-profit and not-for-profit organizations to achieve significant increases in productivity and profitability through valuing diversity.

Teaching adults is one of Eleanor's special skills. She recently retired as Senior Instructor Emerita from the Department of Sociology at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she taught courses in qualitative research, gender and sexuality, and critical thinking. She continues her passion for teaching adults by working with both small and large audiences in all types and sizes of organizations.

Eleanor's diversity expertise is in the areas of gender, race/ethnicity, social class, age, and sexual orientation. She emphasizes valuing workplace diversity in all her trainings and consulting. Eleanor's workshops and presentations also include team building, leadership development, negotiation, and conflict management. Participants in her trainings appreciate her in-depth knowledge and her ability to make difficult material accessible. By the end of any presentation, they are ready to apply what they have learned in their real-life workplace environments.

Another specialty of Eleanor is facilitation. She has led successful visioning and strategic planning workshops, as well as difficult workplace conversations about diversity issues. Eleanor is also trained to administer DiSC® Profiles, a highly successful personality assessment. Her work in this area helps participants in DiSC workshops to understand themselves and others better so that they are more productive at work.

Eleanor's presentation, training, and facilitation style is both professional and engaging providing experience-based, interactive, participatory learning in a non-confrontational environment. She has a deep understanding of the topics she presents but just as importantly of workplace culture. Eleanor is also very practical and down-to-earth, which provides participants the opportunity to fully engage difficult topics. She consistently receives high ratings from participants in her presentations, workshops, and facilitations.

Corporate clients that have used DiversityWorks include: AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and StorageTek. Enhanced by her academic training, Eleanor has worked effectively with educational institutions like: Gallaudet University, Naropa Institute, Center for the Studies of Ethnicity and Race in American (CSERA), and the Western Interstate Commission on Higher Education (WICHE).

Eleanor's vast experience in the not-for-profit world has enabled her to work successfully with non-profits like these: Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA), American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES), and Boulder County Safehouse.

Local, state, and federal governmental agencies for whom Eleanor has provided training and consultation include: Boulder (County) Sheriff's Department, Colorado Department of Social Services, Colorado Coalition of Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action, and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
