Paul Unks, MEd, helps people achieve greater satisfaction and success in their professional and personal lives. As an expert in career management consulting, he has helped thousands of individuals identify career options and opportunities, manage stress and health, communicate more effectively, and work better in teams. And, with an equally strong background in organizational development, he has helped numerous companies recognize how everyone wins when businesses facilitate the professional development of their employees.
Paul has more than 30 years of organizational and individual consulting experience. He received the top training and development award in the nation, the "First Gold Award for Keeping America Working," from the President of the United States for designing and delivering a comprehensive professional development program for IBM Corporation. To date, more than 4,000 employees and 800 managers have benefited from these ongoing programs.
Before starting his private consulting practice in 1980, Paul served for five years as the Director of the Center for Career Development in St. Louis, where he developed and introduced four new career management programs. Notable among these was his ground-breaking Women Returning to the Workplace program, which earned him recognition as a pioneer in career counseling and an invitation to speak at the prestigious National Women's Career Conference.
A representative list of clients include: Ball Aerospace & Technologies; Bureau of Land Management; Cities of Greeley, Thornton, and Longmont; Denver Water Department; Department of the Interior; Hewlett-Packard; IBM; Lucent Technologies; StorageTek; TRW; University Corporation of Atmospheric Research; USDA Forest Service; VA Medical Center; and Workforce Boulder County.
Paul has practiced with the developers of the popular book What Color is Your Parachute?, and made significant contributions towards the book's development. He continues to be on the cutting edge of his field, developing and refining state-of-the-art human development programs. Paul is a consultant to the U.S. Olympic Training Center, where he brings his knowledge of performance psychology and career transition counseling to professional and amateur athletes, helping them succeed in competition and beyond. His motivating speaking style has made his classes at universities and conventions around the country continually in demand.
Working one-on-one or with a group, Paul's goal is the same—to help people discover and reach their full potential as individuals and key contributors to their organization. He encourages people to participate, ask questions, and share experiences. "My hope is that people will get inspired, stretch themselves, acquire knowledge and skills they can put to use immediately, and of course, have fun in the process!"
