Leadership and Management

Servant Leadership

The concept of leadership continues to evolve. Historically, a specific position made you a leader. Today, leadership trickles down to all roles within the organization. In 1970, Robert K. Greenleaf, wrote a transformational paper on “The Servant as Leader.” His servant-leader concept focused on being a servant first instead of the traditional thought of a leader first. This session explores a different approach to leadership by focusing on shared power and putting the needs of others first. This philosophy helps team members develop and perform in a more effective way. In addition, this session will explore ways a “Servant Leadership” culture encourages diversity and inclusion, creates a stronger culture of trust, a compassionate and caring mindset, and ultimately fosters mutual leadership in others.
